Netflix brought us a completely new way to rent movies, the ability to stream. Since then steaming media has picked up significantly, to a point where production houses themselves are trying to get in on the action by promoting the free streaming of one movie when you buy another.
However, as progressive as this is, there’s one industry that has remained relatively untouched in streaming content; console games. But things are starting to change, and with the launch of OnLive’s PlayPack the arrival of streaming gaming is on its way. Fashioned in the same subscription style as Netflix, the stream all you want for one cost plan is getting a decent amount of buzz. But it’s also raising a lot of questions, especially when it comes to bandwidth. Companies are already complaining for the bandwidth suck from Netflix streaming, just think what adding the other side of couch surfing entertainment will do.
